Bonnie, thanks for the link. When I clicked that page I was able to get to all the related stories in the paper issue by agreeing to view a short commercial. It certainly is a series of worthwhile reading!
HI! Thanks for the link to TIME. I found all 3 articles facinating. Inside the autistic mind especially hit home. My son and I have balanced translocation of chromosomes 11 and 17-which the article refers to as suspicious"spots". Although my son is the only autistic child in our extended family the inherited translocation and it's questions have been given to our family who are considering having children. I have 2 cousins who's children have seizures/ADHD. I found it interesting that they referred to different kinds of autism or syndromes{maybe even 4-5} and how some may be genetic while some immune dysfunctions. I am excited to see scientists looking into these possiblites.....I am in hopes that they lead to answers and help for our children. Marilyn Chadwick is also coming to evaluate some children at our Saturday Friend program at the ARC. I am interested to see what the parents thought. I am sceptical of facilitated communication in others but I also feel that if it helped open the world for one child I find it worth the consideration.
