I just finished making my daughter this hat at www.medidit.com/hat using Homespun yarn & H hook. The hat fits nice but....she wants me to make the brim wider and make it flare out like a sun hat.
Like the pattern the last row has 84 single crochet stitches. How would I do this?

(Increase evenly on one round then , work 3 rounds even) until it is your desired width.

Thanks for replying but...what do you mean by "increase one round evenly?". How many sc stitches before I should increase? For instance do I sc in the first 8scs and 2sc in the next sc? then repeat ?

yes, then the next 3 rounds you would not increase, the next round would be 9 sc increase in next sc, then the next 3 rounds no increases. Does that make sense ? I'm sorry I am so bad at thinking that everyone can read my mind!!!

Thank you, Eva that does make sense. I didn't want to experiment on my own because you kow how Homespun is to rip out. My daughter loved the scarf so I am in a hurry to finish the hat before she returns to college in Utah where it does get cold.
