[color:"purple"] [/color] Help, Help, Help....I am a brand new spinner with my first spinning wheel, a saxony type. I'm getting frustrated as I'm having problems with the belt flying off the wheel, bobbin & flyer. Has anyone else had this problem that could help me fix it? If you want to write me at my personal email; nwamassagedoula@earthlink.net (Please put 'spinning help' in the subject line as it will probably end up in my spam folder, which I check often). I could send you some pictures of my wheel and maybe you'd have a better idea of what's going wrong. I'm really frustrated as I really want to learn to spin. I'm picking up my LeCleric Mira floor loom this next weekend and will want my first project to be a rug... so I'm spinning rug yarn. I have been learning to weave on an Ashford table loom.
Our budget is so tight right now otherwise I'd try to find a good book on spinning... If anyone has any old one's they'd be willing to donate, I'd be open to that as well, and tremendously grateful. I am disabled so my income is very limited, but I've wanted to spin 'all my life' and now that I was given a wheel as a gift I am getting anxious. I would be glad to hear from anyone that could help.. Thank You, Teri

Teri,
Sorry you're having such problems! What brand wheel do you have? Not all saxony wheels work the same, so it's hard to answer your questions. Is it double drive or single drive? Are you using a stretchy drive band or a cotton one? What type of tension system does the wheel use? Is it an antique wheel? Answers to these questions would give us a place to start.

Oh, please don't get discouraged. I have an antique spinning wheel that I had to do a lot of adjustments to (sanded here, oiled there, replaced this and that) but in the end it works quite well. I have to spin in my stocking feet because I get more "feel" with the treadle and that helps a whole lot. Without prior experience you are working at quite a disadvantage, but I'll bet it can be done. These ladies here can help you. Keep trying.
