Okay, so a few weeks back I went to the movies and I couldn't believe how people were behaving. Yelling at the screen, carrying on conversations commenting about the movie. It drove me crazy...

And the grade school kids behind me kept kicking my chair (by my head) and when I turned around, there were no parents with them..
(did I mention that this was a rated "R" movie )

I thought theatres weren't allowed to sell tickets to "R" movies to a minor w/out a parent present.

Are you sure you didn't go to a screening of "Rocky Horror Picture Show"? Those kind of things are permissable there!

I was carded when I was like 24 and people were in the movies that I know were not old enough to be there alone. I was a college grad and was married. My younger brother in law (I mean he was 17) was behind me. We had to find my inlaws so he could get in. But they didn't say anything to the 12 yr olds by themselves. I let the cop there know I didn't like it too.

I hate going to the movies. It is one of my stress things. I will go see a kid's movie, but I won't see an adult movie. I know that kids are not going to be good. No way will I go at night either.

I went to see a ballet a while back. It was $36 a seat. I left my kids at home, but the people behind me let there child kick my seat the whole time. Not to mention the paper rattling. I bought box seats the next time just to be less stressful. Why would anyone pay $36 for a 3 yr old a seat at the ballet?

At the ballet I would most definitely turn around and say something to the parent!

That is an event of social graces and they should be teaching their child some. Kicking the person's seat in front of you does not qualify!

The movies barely have manners in them anymore. When every other word coming off the screen is F*** or Sh**, then we can hardly expect the children to be exemplary examples of society.

Exactly, I hate all that kicking of seats, and people going shhhh at me when I'm trying to eat my popcorn and chips, and when i'm trying to suck up the last bit of coke in the cup with my straw. I don't know why I go, I don't even like films!

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that the parents were on the other side of the theater. So they brought their kids to see the movie, but then when the movie started they put them on the other side of the theater and went to sit somewhere else.

This is a major pet peeve of mine. I love movies but going to a theater to watch them can be so aggravating. Why do people carry on conversations during movies? Didn't they go to the movie out of a desire to actually watch it? Once the movie starts I am absolutely silent and if I'm with someone who tries to talk to me I shut them up too.

Mother always said that even when things seem bad there's someone else who's having a worse day. Like being stung by a bee or getting a splinter or being chained to the wall in someone's sex dungeon.

Often they won't even let you in if a parent is standing there saying you can buy the ticket but isn't also watching the movie with you...happened to my ex's brother; his stepdad was at the ticket counter saying "he can see this movie" but his stepdad couldn't stay to watch with him...so they wouldn't let him in.
