We recently had the Maple Festival in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania. It was nice, but it's hard to find maple syrup anywhere for an affordable price. Even Sam's Club has gotten very expensive for a relatively small bottle!

Then again, I'm the type of maple lover that doesn't use it as an accent, but more of a focused flavor.

Trader Joe's and Costco carry real Maple Syrup at good prices.

My favourite food fest is the Carmel Tomato Fest, a charity event held each year for 14 years.

Not only is it a tribute to heirloom tomatoes and offering tastes of over 400 varieties, but it is the best food and wine even any place.

Right now, in Memphis, Tennessee, there is the Memphis In May Festival (this year salutes Costa Rica). Throughout the month there are restaurants and special events highlighting Costa Rican cooking.

This weekend is the annual Memphis in May Barbecue Cooking Contest. It is the largest competitive barbecue cooking contest (per Guiness Book of World Records). They barbecue everything you can imagine.

I do enjoy the different ethnic foods introduced each year during this festival. I am also a barbecue aficionado and enjoy the contest (I am a team member!) and tasting all the entrants' food!
