Me too! The older I get the more I realize how blessed I am! Nothing like a great nights sleep and not smelling like vomit!

FOR REAL. I have also noticed that since I have gotten older, I need QUIET in my life, whether at work or at home, and it would not serve me well to have kids running around my house yelling and screaming and making constant noise. I especially need quiet time after coming home from work because of my overly chatty co-workers. My peace and quiet is very important to me now, as it translates into peace of mind for me!

I know how you feel! My co-workers are the same way..they never shut up! If I had to come home to a house full of kids I think I'd go nuts.

Peace and quiet, being able to come/go as I please, not having to worry about all of the things that come with being a parent, and not continuing the cycle of poverty that is a problem in my family.

Peace and quiet is at the top of my list...I absolutely hate excessive noise and feeling overstimulated(which is how I feel whenever kids are around)

Next is having my backyard pool all to myself with no kids in it!!! It is the ultimate reward for me after a long workout to jump in the pool and just be.

The freedom to be spontaneous
SLEEP
A two-seater car
Sex - wherever, whenever
No stretchmarks
My money is spent on ME
I don't have to watch my #@%*$! language
Quiet - or LOUD - I can blast my music without having to worry that I'm causing permanent hearing loss to my child (just to myself)
The freedom to not WORRY so much....I can go to the beach without having to make sure my kid isn't caught in the undertow...I don't have to worry about lost kids....molested kids...drug addicted kids....slutty kids that are going to come home pregnant at 13....maladjusted kids that are going to be on the six o'clock news for mowing down their classmates with an AK-47 during recess....

I watched this TV program where the reporter interviewed several 10 year old girls from one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York. They asked these girls what they saw for their futures, and they each said they'd probably start having babies when they were about 15 or 16, then they'd drop out of school and go on welfare, have a few more babies....maybe some day they'd get married. They were so matter-of-fact about it; probably the same way I would have sounded at that age saying, "I'll graduate from high school, go to college, start my career (as a world famous something or other...I was certain at that age that I'd be famous) and then I'll probably get married..."

It's so sad to see these kids that are programmed to have totally f*cked up lives - what a gloomy future. And most of them will program their children to think the exact same way.

I can speak from personal experience, it is like a brainwashing of sorts to grow up in poverty. It is so hard to ever think you could have or be more than the people around you. But, some adults believed in me and encouraged me to go on to college and I have been able to have more than I ever imagined for myself.
Anyhow....I wish I could tell these girls that the surest way to NOT have anything is to have children-especially before they establish themselves financially. When you have no support around you, having children is the absolute worse thing you can do. My family is living proof of that. I learned quickly that B-A-B-Y = P-O-V-E-R-T-Y when you come from a poor background.
