I like that this book has generated such reactions from women. I think it is great for a good laugh, and if taken with a grain of salt like previously stated, it's purely for entertainment. I think women should raise their standards and find someone who treats them how they feel they should be treated, but of course keeping in mind he has standards you should meet as well. Relationships are a two-way street, we've got to be able to give as much as we expect to receive!!

I will add my two cents here, a little late but anywho...

I read this book right after getting divorced and I would not say that I read too much into the book but I did make a mental note that I had lowered my standards and it was painful to realize that I have never had a man who was that into me. That was depressing. Not the end of my world, but depressing.

Remember now, that it was a woman who didn't take any garbage that turned the author into a semi-respectable man.

Here is what I got out of the book: I got a clearer on the concept of not throwing myself (not literally, but almost) at a man whose attention i wanted. I guess I get it a little more clearly now. I know I am not one of those women who turns heads but I feel freed-up to really make myself one happy girl. After the divorce I went back to school and now have one and a half years from a BS in Finance.

Oh, and I think I might actually recognize it if a man is "just that into me".

Congrats on going back to school! That's awesome, and for a degree in Finance, no less! Best wishes on your academic endeavors.

The painful realizations are always the most important ones to make. As women, a lot of us have a nasty tendency to beat ourselves up for past mistakes, but I say as long as we eventually learned something, that's all that matters!

There's something about having to beat a man into shape to be the kind of guy you want him to be, that rubs me the wrong way...

lol... I totally hear what you're saying. Seems like it should be easier or simpler than that, doesn't it?
