OH MY - here I go again! Found a darling baby sweater pattern to knit. All goes well until the finishing -- adding a crocheted border. It's just single crochet, so that's OK - but how do I get ahold of the stitches properly to begin?
The pattern just says "join yarn at right seam and make sc for one row." Do I sc thru the cast on row?
Think of it this way--you're adding the crochet row to give the sweater a finished look without the bulk of ribbing (I'm assuming, from what you said before). So you should grab the farthest out part of the edge that you can, so that you don't leave a ridge. Does that help?
I think that's right. Do a few inches and take a look at it. Does it look smooth, finished? If not, take it out and try it a little differently. You'll be able to see when the SC is leaving a nice, finished edge on your little sweater.
