we didn't start testing until 2001. we had been trying for a few years before that, then i had a thyroid storm in 98 and had to do radioactive iodine treatment. we weren't allowed to try to conceive for a year after the treatment. so in 2000, we started trying again, then started testing (blood work at different times in the cycle, semen analysis, hysterosalpingogram, ovulation kits, temping) after another year had gone by. in late 2002, i found a new gynecologist who did a laparoscopy because i was having so much pelvic pain, and he found endometriosis. i've had 3 laparoscopies now, and we've done several cycles with fertility drugs and a few IUIs, and nothing. we are *looking* into IVF, but we aren't sure yet since we are starting to feel as if it's not God's will for us.
anyway, i guess we tried for several years before we found out what the issue was. sorry to ramble.
