Thank Goodness I live in what seems to be by and large a more tolerant and "enlightened" country. This is dreadful.

I am very much against this law. It really implies that if you are different then you don't have any rights and honestly I just can't remember reading that part in the constitution or anywhere. I think before we start making more laws we need to fix some of the other ones like how about if you have kids you support them or how about if you do get married you don't cheat (hey wait a minute I think I read about this one somewhere). I am very spiritual and I have read a bible or two and correct me if I am wrong, I thought we were not to act as "judges" ?????

You are most welcome, and no I honestly don't think you are the minority. I do think at times it is really hard for people to "give their opinions" on certain issues because they will be looked down upon. If you look up in a dictionary the word "marriage" it means a close union, as well as a ceremony. In my dictionary it doesn't say that it specifically has to be a man and a woman(and I can't find where it says that in a bible either). Again I think we have so much going on in this world that needs immediate attention and worrying if two people, human beings, want to be married shouldn't be on the top of this list.

God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. Marriage=1 man+ 1 woman.

Yes, but in this country we separate religion from politics.
And as for God's will, that has been tainted by the will of man. The rules written on paper can be changed and misinterpretted, however the rules God has written in our hearts cannot be erased or ignored.
Perhaps if more people in the world followed their hearts instead of pursuing power, money, etc, the world would be a much better place.
That's just my two cents worth on the topic.

Yes, but in this country we separate religion from politics No we do not. Politics can not stand without the discipline of religion nor Capitalism without the discipline of morality. Unfortunately in recent decades, politics have become corrupt and this is why this country is falling apart. We are living in a country where immorality has taken control of people's hearts and desires. One day, we'll all be speaking Arabic. And as for God's will, that has been tainted by the will of man God's will can not be tainted nor can His Church teach false doctrine. His will among the people of God is done on Earth as it is done in Heaven (Mt. 6:10; 16:18-19). Perhaps if more people in the world followed their hearts instead of pursuing power, money, etc, the world would be a much better place. This is a true statement. At least we agree on something.

Not to be too facetious here, but... "His church can't teach false doctrine," hmm? Yeah, well... if you're using the original Bible (which are few in number in the modern world) and having direct, reciprocal conversations with God (which, I'm afraid, might be something to really worry about if you think you are), then maybe you'd stand a chance of being 100% sure you are doing God's work the way it was intended to be done.
However...
There is the whole independence thing we were gifted with and we all have to make our own--as in not dictated by others--decisions as to what's the best way to do things.
Not to mention, the whole "judge not" thing and the issue of "if there is one amont you without sin, let him cast the first stone."
So...
As the day goes on and I read more and more of these posts, I'm finding a great deal of wisdom in Gandhi's "I like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians" bit.
Still voting "no" on the marriage ammendment.
