Hi

After being made to feel slightly insecure about my appearance when I hit 40 by my teenage daughters - I was still quite attached to my khaki cropped trousers! - I decided to set up www.stillgorgeous.com for those of us over 35 who have kind of lost their way in the fashion and beauty department.

If nothing else it might make you smile!

Love
Kathryn xxxx

I like your site and though I am 26 I say the classic look works for all ages. I am prone to dress in 60's styles whenever possible and those styles always work no matter what age you are and just happen to be back in fashion.

I couldn't agree more Alexa!
The classic look does work for all ages...It's how you feel and how it looks on you that is more important when wearing clothing...

katelaura , you're not old at 40...wear what makes you happy!

I've found that now that I am losing my weight (even though I am 35) I am trying new things that I would have never thuoght of wearing before - like colors! LOL

My wardrobe before consisted mainly of black - I would have fit in at any funeral in town! But although I still would never show off my midriff or wear "daisy duke" shorts, I am wearing "younger clothes", because I can now. I feel younger, I have more energy! i refuse to be relegated to the "soccer mom" role for my entire life - because there are so many more facets to me than that.

In my opinion, your age does not matter in choosing clothing. Personal style comes from within, and if your clothing matches your personal style, then you will look great. If not, then you won't look as good.

I am sure you have all seen younger girls wearing clothing in imitation of their favorite pop stars... even though they may be lovely girls, it is just not who they really are, so it looks silly.

Even lovely legs can look awful in a mini, if it is being tugged on every few minutes.. ;-)

Some 40+ women look great in a flirty tank, others prefer classic contemporary, still others feel most at home in tailored wear. To each her own... as long as it is her own.

My 2 cents.

That's so true Heather--being true to yourself is important with fashion. I've always viewed fashion as my own personal art project for the world and it keeps me happy.

Hey Ladies

Thanks for all your replies! I do love being 43 I have to admit - all that extra knowledge and wisdom (supposedly)! The only real downside, much as I love them, is the two teenage daughters who look much better in clothes than I do!
Still, it's their time now and I love seeing them all dressed up and looking gorgeous!

I don't scrub up too badly in the big scheme of things, I could just do without the spare tyre round the middle! Might help if I cut down on the chocolate consumption I guess!!

Still spring is blooming and my weekly 30 miles on bike rides is calling - that should sort out my wobbly thighs!

Thanks again for all your comments.

Kind regards
Kathryn

I thought your comment about your daughters saying "its there time now" was very interesting. I'm in my late 30s and I feel much more attractive now than i did in high school. I hope high school wasn't "my time" If it was then I missed it completely.
maybe I'm crazy, but I feel like "my time" is yet to come.

Amen, Jeanne!

Because when you're in High School, you don't really know anything about anything (you just think you do!)

I say our time is NOW, now that we have the wisdom to appreciate what we have been through, what we have lost, and what we still have!
