I wear cropped pants. I'm also 5'7, 5'8 on a good day. I think crop pants upset the proportions of someone who's shorter.
I also don't wear shorts unless I'm just hanging around the house. I don't wear jeans at all in the summer. Too hot and humid to be comfortable. I would not give up my cropped pants.

I also wear cropped pants. I am 5'8" tall, but would probably wear them even if I were shorter. I am not comfortable wearing shorts when I am out & about. When I am at home, I wear shorts or short free flowing muu-muu type dresses. It is unbearably hot here in Arizona in the Spring/Summer months & I am miserable with too many clothes.

I'm 5'5" and I wear cropped pants, capris and shorts around the house and when I go out. Memphis is incredibly hot & humid in the summer and I am hot natured. I don't wear short-shorts, but athletic or walking shorts.
I also don't like wide-legged cropped pants on me--they do not look right, but tapered or capris look okay. I'm never going to be tall & willow-y, no matter how I dress!

I'm 5'7" and I wear cropped or capri pants, when I can find a pair that fits my body and makes me feel good about it. I try on probably 3 or 4 times as many as I find that fit and look good.
I substitute teach and the Baltimore area is also very hot and humid in the spring and summmer. Those "shorter" type of pants are perfect for teaching. Although many of the teachers may be "youngsters" in their 20s and 30s, they don't need cool clothes for "hot flashes" in the warmer months like the rest of us. I got some "skorts" last week and my husband made fun of them, or should I say, ME? ! ? I guess I'll stick with the capris or cropped pants. LOL

I swore Id never wear crops capris or pedals...then i worked retail. I love them now...especially the trouser type gauchos because i have wider calves...in regular crops i look like im wearing tapered pants *shudder* I will admit tho to being 6'. so i have to wear crop pants as capris and some of the pedal pushers and chorter gauchos look like im wearing bermudas or coolottes hehe

First...isn't it great that in this thread we're all talking about how TALL we are/aren't instead of our weight :)
Second...I wonder if the different names we are using for these pants are some kind of regional thing - called 'capris' in one place and somewhere else the same pants may be called a 'crop'? If there is a difference, I'd appretiate it if someone would explain this to me so that when I go shopping, I'll know what to look for. Especially what are gaucho pants?
Also...I've just realized that there are at least two "Trish"s on this board. To avoid confusion, I'll try to remember to sign my posts with my last initial. Trish V.
I wear capris in the summer. Jeans are too hot. I'm 5'4'', and proportionally, my calves are large. It's just a comfort thing for me, not a fashion statement. When I need something a bit dressier, I wear slacks made of a light weight cotton blend. I wear shorts around the house and at my sisters'. They live on a farm and I'm not about to clean out a horse stall in long pants when it's hot!!

I guess it depends if you've got fat shins really. Hmmmm...I'm not sure. I've got superbly shaped shins (try saying that after a couple of ciders) so cropped pants actually enhance my beauty.

Last year our newspaper had an article about these pants. The article stated that there are capris, clam diggers and pedal pushers, and they are different lengths. I cannot remember which is which. I used to hate them when I was young, but now that I am not young and it seems hotter, they are a life saver in the summer when I don't want to wear shorts. I wear the kind that end at the bottom of my kneecap, and some of the longer ones (for you tall girls), actually are an excellent length for short me (5'3"). At this point they are not cropped on me. I feel if people will try the different lengths and styles, they will find some that look great. Maybe "cropped" is a generic term.
