Here's my delima (sp?). My mom is turning 65 in May. She has decided to totally depend on me to interpret/lead/take the bull by the horns and see that her Medicare is taken care of, prescription drug plan alternatives, and supplemental insurance...the list goes on and on. So, PLEASE, if there's anybody here that has to deal with this, please let me lean on you and ask some questions about how to get this all started for her. I have this catalog she got and i'm looking into some supplemental policies for her, but I also am making a list of questions. if anybody is willing, please let me know. im desperate. i really don't want to do this to begin with. if you knew my mother, you would understand, but i'm all she has. she's not well educated (quite school in 7th grade to get a job and help support her 4 little brothers...long story), and she gets really frustrated and argues with me about every detail and its only because she doesn't understand. she's real "high strung". anyways, any help I can get would be much appreciated.

Here there were a lot of questions about the new medicare plans and I know churches have been sponsoring social security speakers to come and address questions. I also noticed that Walmart had a guy sitting in the aisle to answer some questions. Maybe you could look at your community news and see if this is going on in your 'neck of the woods' too. Good luck.

Contact the Senior Center in your town for help.
The senior center in my town has a nurse with a computer program which can evaluate the best plan. You will need a list of the prescriptions your mother is currently taking.

Oh Melissa,
Are you sure we are NOT RELATED !!!!!!!!!! Even though I just went thru this I am afraid I won't be much help, my Mom does not have any prescriptions so it was sort of a no brainer. But I agree check with a Senior Center or another good place is check with the billing dept of your local hospital because I am sure that they deal with this alot. I'm here for you to lean on <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
