I love my garbage disposal, but I could come closer to living without it than I could my dishwasher.

The garbage disposal is indeed one handy dandy item, but if it breaks, I can scrape plates into the garbage. That only takes a few seconds!

If my dishwasher breaks, I have to wash all dishes by hand, which takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on what I have cooked and/or what has piled up during the day.

Also, the dishwasher assures my dishes are being sanitized. If I want to do that by handwashing, I'll need to do a Clorox soak and then ultra-hot rinse. Sooooo don't want to take that time!

I agree! For this reason alone, I would not want to do without my dishwasher. I wonder if anyone has ever done a study regarding illnesses in a family with a dishwasher vs. without? I guess it would be difficult to conduct but it would be interesting.

definately the dishwasher! I didn't have either for quite a bit of time and I definately missed them both, but I can't tell you how happy I am not to be handwashing dishes anymore.

Dishwasher hands down! While the disposal is helpful it doesn't even compare to the dishwasher!!!

It looks like the dishwasher is coming in first and the garbage disposal is second. Three cheers for the dishwasher.

Dishwasher over garbage disposal! I would much rather take the trash out than wash dishes!
