I know that diet will affect the condition of your hair. It only makes sense. But one thing I've never been able to get a straight answer on is this question: What do I need to ingest to make my hair grow its fastest and strongest?
For years, I've taken a vitamin called "Hair, Skin and Nails." But my hair continues to be very dry, prone to breaking, and it grows very slowly.
Recently, I added a Biotin supplement to my diet. I am also trying REALLY hard to eat healthy (it's so difficult for me because I am a complete junk food addict!!). Does anyone know what else I can do? Are there any foods I should eat a lot of, or any other vitamins I can take?

Those are great articles, Lynne!
I take a multivitamin everyday, but I didn't know the B6 was good for the hair...

This is a list of known vitamins and minerals to help with healthy hair. If the hair is healthy it will feel better and grow faster.
You should consider taking a vitamin that contains the following: Vitamin B-complex Other B-vitamins (including folate, biotin and inositol) Vitamin B-6 Vitamin C with bioflavonoids Vitamin E Beta-Carotene The recommended daily dose of magnesium, sulfur, zinc Flaxseed oil
These vitamins and minerals have been shown vital to keratin protein (you hair metabolism). Without them you hair growth can slow or stop, you can suffer hairloss, or your overall hair health can be compromised. Healthy hair starts from within the body. You should talk to your doctor about starting a vitamin regimen, and he/she can tell you how much your body/hair needs. Also get frequent hair cuts, because damaged hair could possibly damage any new growth.

Do you have to take a certain amount of these B vitamins to help make your hair healthier?
Shouldn't my multivitamins be enough on it's own?

Franny, vitamin B is not an ADEK vitamin, which means it can dissolve in water. If you have too much vitamin B in your body, it will de removed from the body by sweat or urine. Same thing with vitamin C. You can't have enough of it, but everything that is over the allowed dosage per day just gets removed. It's far worse to have too little vitamins or too much of the ADEK's.

I find that fries, the greasier the better keep my hair in it's fabulously glossy condition. Avoid anything with vegetables, or fruit as they can dry out your follicles and beard (if you have one). oh sorry, wrong forum...
