I have a gardening journal that is about 6 years old. I have drawing of the different gardens, plants I've added over the years, changes to the borders. I've stapled in the tags which come with the plants, bits of news or tips from magazines etc. It's a pretty book with a flower on the front.

My mother always used a gardening journal but I never felt the urge to use one. Now that I am retired and taking more interest in gardening I may just start a journal.

About all I do now is staple notes to my wall calendar on the appropriate month something needs to be done. When I flipped the calender to March this year it said feed hydrageas and cut ornamental grass.

I voted yes - For years I've used a large wall calendar to record all about these 'babies' - both indoor and out.

Here's another Garden Journal article, by Jodi Delong:
"Garden journals are more than just a place to keep track of last frost dates"

I was looking through my gardening journal yesterday and I realized. It's a beautiful book but the inside is so ugly. No one would be able to understand anything in it but me. I have notes, tags and diagrams stapled in to it almost haphazardly. But it's my garden book and it works for me. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> And despite it's ugliness I was still inspired to add more notes and staples to it. Must be the rain.
