Hair glossing is a great alternative to color if you just want a shiny look. It's not too damaging, but if you call a salon and tell them when you had your hair permmed last, they can tell you if it's ok. Typically gloss is just fine, as it does not contain peroxides. Be sure to mention your perm though. Too much chemical can cause breakage, discolorations, or worse.

Good luck!

Hey!

I was just browsing posts and came across the perms. Wanted to let everyone know that if you sleep on a satin or silk pillow case with curly hair (natural or otherwise) it will help to keep it from messing up too much overnight. Same goes for when you have your hair styled. Silk and satin allow the hair to slide over it, unlike cotton that actually grabs hair like velcro.

Great tip Salome. After long doubting to get a perm, I believe this is more the style I like (at least for a while) so the tip will come in handy in case I keep my hair in perm-curled shape for a while. I sure hope they could do something about the smell, but I guess you can't have everything.

Guess what? I give massages and reiki. More info here!

Hi Isa, if and when you decide to do it, I'm sure you will be very happy with the results as well!

I'm happy you're liking your perm...

I like my perm very much, after all the doubts I had. I can't wait to reperm it with a bit tighter curl, if possible. The hairdresser used benders, maybe next time she can use a lot of large and thick rods in a form of bricklayer motive. But I'll inform on the glossing first.

I thought glossing would mean getting a hair coloring in the same color your natural color is in. What would the difference be in getting a (demi-)permanent coloring in the same color over glossing be in terms of results?
