I find you can't beat a good hairnet. I put mine on just before going to bed. It stops me looking like a yeti in the mornings.

Thanks!, Isa. it sounds like the perm worked fine. I have not had one in years, maybe later in 2006. Della

familychoice,
Is that hairnet on top of your head or on your chin for your beard? <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

LOL. I don't grow a beard, so I would not need it for that anyway. Actually, getting my hair in top shape is a godsend with the perm. I just gently rub a bit through it and it's fine for the rest of the day. At least, this is the way I like it. But I'm going to wash it for the first time now and see how it turns out after the first washing.

Guess what? I give massages and reiki. More info here!

Hmmm, I washed it now and I notice that it starts to relax a bit already. I guess it's quite normal or that my hair is not that good to hold the curl. Anyway, I'll see what progress it makes over the weeks and decide then whether I ever want a perm again. The smell is basically the biggest thing that is keeping me away from doing it again, but I felt that my scalp was very dry as well. The dry scalp is much better now since I washed it with a shampoo for colored hair (my coloring job is still present and I want to empty the bottle) and a second time with a shampoo for dry, damaged and brittle hair (which it is after the perm job)
I found a shampoo with rosemary in the local shop as well. I might as well use this just to nurture it a bit and to clean the hair before I condition it.

Your shampoo for color treated hair is fine for your permed hair. It is basicly a shampoo with a low ph so that it will not cause color to fade. It will keep your perm in better shape as well.

Good to know that I can empty the bottle with shampoo for colored hair completely. Now that my hair has been dry for more then a day, the curls are much looser and more natural now (you could see the on-base pattern from the benders on my scalp for the first days, which is now gone)

BAck to the shiny hair issue....I saw the John Frieda product mentioned earlier. Actually I saw 2 products: one that said it was to give you shiny hair and the other one was called light reflecting. What's the difference??

Hmmm, it sounds to me that the first one boosts your natural hair color and makes it accentuate it more while the second one adds a reflecting film to the hair. That's how I would interpret it anyway.

"Is that hairnet on top of your head or on your chin for your beard?"

A hairnet for the top of my head (not including my hat though), and what I like to call a beardnet for my many beards. Sometimes though, I like to remain clean shaven, and simply sport a false beard for special occasions. This of course can be removed and washed when required.
