Has anyone on here ever had glossing done to their hair? I've heard there's clear or colour glossing? It's suppose to make your hair very shiny, but I don't know if there's any disadvantages to getting this done...

Hairglossing can mean different things. Hairdressers and platform artists sometimes create a technique and give it a name.

However, I call hairglossing - the application of Clear ShdesEQ by Redken. - and Colorglossing is the application of a color of ShadesEQ. It is a demi-permanent color (or clear) that is very, very shiny. Ihaven't seen any drawbacks to using it. It lasts anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on your hair. It is meant to last 6 but not all hair holds it.

Does the condition of your hair make a difference?
When you say not every hair would hold this, do you mean hair that is is dry?

I'm thinking it would be nice to have shiny hair...

Lynnne, have you ever had this done?

Yes I have used it many times. It ususally lasts longer on hair that is a bit porous but not on hair that is extremely damaged (although it does help damaged hair.) I recommend it.

Is it better in my case to go with clear or coloured glossing?

Franny and FashionFiend,
Either clear or color glossers are great. The choice is up to you.
Prices vary depending on the city and state. They can go from $20 to $50 or more.

Thanks, Lynne...
I have tried to find a hair salon that uses this product and can't seem to locate one...I've emailed Redken about this, so hopefully they will get back to me...I looked under Redken salon finder (Canada) and when I called some salons, I was told they didn't use Redken...

Do you know of any other brands beside Redken that does hairglossing, just in case I don't luck out...

Hmmm. I'm sure that there are other companies that make the same type of product but I can't think of any right now.

Lynne,

I just saw in the drugstore today, John Frieda Hair Colour Glaze...It's new...it said it will make your hair shiny...Don't know if I want to try it...will have to wait and see what I hear about it...

I emailed Redken and they responded with some salon locations that do hairglossing within (not too close) driving distance to me lol, but at least I know where they are located and can try it...
