Good luck Lynn.

Wanted to share with all, esp Old Sage Hand that I went ahead and did work on my resume-- not only adding current position but trimming down last position as I no longer need to give it so much real estate.

We're pulling for you, Lynn. But, owning your own business means you'll forget to update your resume with added skills and accomplishments wearing all your new hats. Keep a folder on your computer for keeping track of the new things, to make it easier to add to the master resume when you have time.

Fashion Fiend: I'm proud of you. Now, don't you feel much better and ready to tackle anything that comes along!

I am facing one of the BIGGEST challenges ever, and I feel like it is so laughably simple to almost everyone else - and my challenege is, writing a resume. I'm only 21, but I have been working continuously since I was 14, jobs that range from metal factories to being a personal care assistant for an in-home quadriplegic, from food service to public relations, from record store management to in-home assistance for the eldery. I have a lot of experience to draw on and many talents and traits to highlight, but I simply cannot figure out what the heck to write for a job objective of any kind. I don't know what kind of job I am looking for, and that is my biggest stumbling block with writing the resume. I have so many varied abilities, talents and interests... How am I to cut down my vague career objective to a point where it is open enough to offer many different jobs but not too vague where no job will know what I am looking for?

I'm sorry I'm so late getting back to you. I've just made a major household move and it's really taken awhile to get everything settled in.
So far as your resume is concerned, maybe you need to relist everything you've just talked about, but put them into categories. For instance, management, clerical, delivery, caretaking, etc. You can then fine-tune them and focus on what you brought to each position. Most employers are looking for someone capable of independent work habits, while still being a team player.
See what happens when you try it, this way, and get back to us.
