Hi I have got a 2 month old cockateil that is extremely noisy and its becoming a bit of a nightmare, the problem I have is that the best place I can keep the birds is in my bedroom and evry morning I get woken by the bird screeching and he's like it all day. Any ideas what I can do?

hmmm... i already encountered that problem... my solution is to place them in a quiet room... so they can sleep well... cuz they need atleast 8 hours of sleeping time... and put some blanket on thier cage... it would help... try it...

At 2 months of age, are you sure this baby has been weaned? He may be hungry and that is why he is crying so much. How long have you had him?

If he is fully weaned, then putting a dark cover over his cage at night should keep him quiet until morning.

If this is a male, they are usually much more vocal than the females are - so you may want to change the screeching to talking, by talking to him & teaching him words to say.

After saying all this though, I'm really concerned that this baby may not be fully weaned and that he is crying for food.

Sorry mavis I meant 4 months old, hes one of two that successfully hatched and I think is more than likely a male. Thats a good idea to encourage him into talking to get him away from screeching a bit.

Also while im on about the chicks, I dont know if you remember me from back in october when I was asking advice on the chicks... well im still worried about the youngest, hes doing very well but he still seems not quite right.

I would say the oldest is pretty much fully grown now but the youngest is still visibly smaller and is very light. His health is generally good though and he is definatly eating a good diet, he is a very active bird but I am still very concerned about his weight.

I dont have any avianary vets anywhere near me and my local vet who I took him to as a chick was absolutely clueless about birds so I was wondering if you had any theories or remodies?

Yes, I remember how worried you were about the little guy Chris. I'm glad to hear that he is still doing good - even though he's still little. I would say that if he is eating well & seems healthy & active, you may as well just enjoy your "special" bird.
