I found the review for the cunningham book. I'm definitely going to check it out. Thank you for any words of wisdom, they're much appreciated <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

ssuz - LOVE your atavar!

Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs! (That's an old song, and a belief of mine as well.)

I'm with Wendy Tall One, the appearance of something out of place in the natural world that addresses my immediately preceeding thought---which happens quite frequently---serves as a guide to me.
I often set up altars, not always on purpose, but because this is my nature (which amused my husband mightily when he first identified the tendency...with pleasure). Now, I can look around the house and see little shrines of special intentions, a candle, a statue, and a letter grouped that represent my letting go of the contents of the letter and leave the outcome to the universe. These things and more, are the "practices" of my beliefs. When we are open (but grounded) the info arrives at an amazing rate. You sort it out with your heart.

random tid-bit:
I was watching the "wheel of fortune" game show on TV last night. One of the puzzles was categorized as "FICTIONAL CHARACTER" the answer was "VENUS, THE GODDESS OF LOVE" ..... I found myself offended and argumentative towards my own tv....lol.

I read tarot whenever the need takes me, my hubby recently bought me the Faeries Oracle and it is stunning!! Also the book that comes with it really made a lot of things much clearer than any other pack that I have used..

I also agree with wendy..although I never consiously look for signs, I always find it..One of my most profound experiences in my life was when I was going through a very difficult period in my life and I was at our farm in Zeerust and I was on my way down to the stream to mingle with nature and right in front of me I saw this beautiful eagle sitting on a wire fence..it just sat there looking at me and flew away..I knew then and there that things would be ok..But it was more like a spiritual sign..because I dont think there is any eagles in that part of the world...

As to good books to read..The circle within by Dianne Sylvan was very good..as well as all Sanya Roman's books..

Hi Silbermoon

I have the Faery Oracle (by Brian Froud) too and it is AMAZING how accurate and really to the point it can be (and I definately have to look in the book for meanings on that one!

And what and interesting experience with the eagle! I had something like that happen while I was preparing for initiation. I was down by a creek that I find a very calming spiritual place and standing in the water was a green heron. I know they are local to this area but in all my years of going to that spot I had never seen on there. And it let me get pretty close to it before making moves for me to stop. Then it just stood there and we watched each other for a while. It was definately a messenger about the things I was working on in my path at the time.

I love the Froud Faeries Oracle & find it works well for me too. One of my closest friends used to live in Devon near to Brian Froud & when I showed him my deck he said "Oh I know her" he was looking at Nelys the Alchemist; she lived near him & must have modelled for Brian. If you look carefully she's Epona's Wild Daughter too.

Very cool Lauren!

I actually have been thinking that I may need to work with that deck a little more

i prefer a oracle tool called the psychic circle, it is really great and gives you all the answers you need plus you can talk to deceased loved ones or otherwise get answers, it can be bought at any mall in the new age section near the tarot/tarot supplies, but i have used tarot in the past and have found it to be very useful, i've tried runes in the past and couldnt connect with them i guess, but pendulums are good as well.

when divining for others i use an african medicine wheel and let the cowries do the talking. what i like about it is that more than just giving answers it usually allows someone to understand their place in the world.

for myself more often than not it is signs - amazing how much nature has to tell us - birds, foxes - all we have to do is listen.
Guidance.
