I've been on one "eating plan", diet, etc. or another since the age of 12 and i'm completely overwhelmed by the avalanche of eating plans available. So far i'm watching Carbs, fat, and frequency of meals, and i'm not really sure what the heck to do anymore.I'm not giving up, just need some helpful feedback if possible.

I'm 42, 5'4 and looking to lose 30 lbs. by May 23rd. I 've been invited to a wedding and I'd really like to look better than i do now.

thank you for your patience!!

Hi Tabitha,

What about the Negative Calorie Diet, have you heard this before? These are foods that you can eat that take more energy to consume than the calories that are in the foods.

However, eating on the Negative Calorie food may help you to loss weight. That is explained in the FAQ on negative calorie diet:

Hi Tabitha,

As far as "diets"...I've always thought the best way is to take it into your own hands and learn as much as you can about nutrition (not that you haven't done so already). There are diets and then there are lifestyle changes, learning how to eat healthier etc.
As far as carbs. I'm not sure if you've read up on carbs, a lot of people FEAR them...they're our main source of energy they shouldn't be feared but anything needs to be in moderation.

THE KEY is also exercise! What type of workout plan are you following? That's equally important, finding something you enjoy and working out effectively.

Anyway, HTH a little!!!

If you are using any artificial sweetners, give them up
immediately. Drink only good water, lots every day...
half your body weight in water.

All the best!

imo, this is not the answer. sweeteners have different effects on different people, but I think like with all things, if you have them in moderation they won't have a negative effect on you. everyone has to find the plan that's right for them, but i have found that if i want to treat myself to foods or drinks with sweeteners in them that it's ok, as long as i maintain a healthy plan of food intake and exercise.

Hi Tabitha,

I think the main thing is to not let it rule your life. It's true that there are a lot of different diets out there and some work for some people, but don't let them take over your life.

My advice would be to go back to basics. That is eat regular healthy meals that are not too big and do some exercise. There has been some interesting research to show that high intensity interval training helps you burn more fat for less exercise and that's the kind of thing I'm looking for in my life. You can read about it here: Best Way to Burn Fat. But also enjoy your life and be happy with who you are, this will help you be more confident and it is often insecurities that drive us to eat.

I hope things get better for you.

Hello Tabitha,

I think you need to try using water as a weight losing tool.

It is not only inexpensive method but it also is safe and already tested and proven to be effective.

But if you don't like the idea of drinking water in the amount of almost half of your body weight then you can also try using grape juice as an alternative.

According to recent studies, grape juice is also proven to be effective in losing weight. It taste better than water but it also is more expensive. <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
