Hello, everyone. I'm a new member of the board. I'm interested in finding out if you've ever had a Reiki treatment before? If so, what was your experience? I'm a Certified Reiki practitioner and curious about experiences that others have had -- kind of a 'view from the other side', as it were. If you aren't familiar with Reiki, please see my website for more info: The Healing Energy I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences. Jan

Hi, Jan!
Welcome! I had a Reiki experience at my church a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed it. We have a group that started a few years ago by a certified practitioner that meets every week. I wasn't sure what Reiki was all about so I had to try it and really enjoyed the experience. It was amazing to have someone massage different areas of my feet and explain how each one corresponds to an internal organ. I was having a problem with my second toe, the pad and where it's connected to the foot and bunion. The practitioner asked me if I was having trouble with a certain part of my body (I don't remember where). Less than 8 months later, I did have a series of health problems that she might have been trying to warn me about, which is what I think the value of Reiki can be for each of us.
(By the way, which part of the body corresponds to the 2nd toe, pad underneath the 1st joint, etc?)

Hi, Trish, and thanks for both the welcome and the response!
Sounds like you had a reflexology session on your feet? As far as the corresponding body part(s), from what you described (and depending on how far down the 'pad' is (meaning away from the toe itself and onto the bottom of the foot), that area USUALLY corresponds with either the eyes, or the neck/brainstem.
I certainly hope your health issues have resolved.
Namaste, Jan

Hi, Jan!
Yes, thank you, my health issues have resolved. I had migraines my whole life, shoveled snow last Feb.28 and had a stroke. Discovered I had a hole in my heart that has been repaired and I'm doing great now. I even think my toe is better! LOL
Reflexology. Yes, I knew that, but I haven't gotten all my words back yet. Reiki is using your hands to feel energy 1 or 2 inches above the body, is that more like it? I need to check out your website The Healing Energy.
Have a Great Day!

Hi, Trish, and yes, Reiki involves placing hands above, or slightly on (depending on your comfort level) the body. It is very relaxing, and a great way to relieve stress and stress-related symptoms. I'm very fortunate, in that as a practitioner, when I give a treatment i also GET a treatment. I'm very glad to hear that your health issues are receding into the past; I'm sending good thoughts your way to keep the positive energy flowing around you. Please do check out my site, and if you have questions, just let me know. Namaste, and Reiki blessings, Jan The Healing Energy

Hi Jan, I too am a Certified Reiki practitioner. I have asked a few of the folks that I have worked on what they have experienced, it seems to be different with every individual. From feeling what they describe as an electrical charge to falling asleep because they become so relaxed. It is truly amazing to me.

Hello, Reddraken. I've heard similar from my clients as well. One of the more interesting things I heard from a client is that they felt my hands above a certain spot EVEN THOUGH they knew I was no longer at that spot....but much further away. I found that one really incredible.

Is there a site to check for local practitioners in our area. I have heard it might help my eczema or asthma. Is it only done on adults - asking since my kids have autism and wondered about that.
Anyway I am in Los Angeles if anyone has a site to hook me up with to gain more insight. Also what is the price range and how many sessions are recommended to start?

I hit 'okay, submit' just as i thought of a few more things to pass on to you. Reiki can be performed on anyone -- including children, and pets . It is helpful for a multitude of symptoms and illnesses -- 'dis' eases, if you will. My site, www.thehealingenergy.com, has some information about Reiki in general that you may find of interest. As I mentioned in my earlier post, www.iarp.org can help you find a certified practitioner in your area. Prices do vary so I'm hesitant to quote a price -- but a fair range would be somewhere between probably $35 and $70 for a one-hour treatment. Of course, that's just a guess. Reiki energy is a subtle energy, and consequently you can never receive "too much". Your practitioner, after discussing your symptoms and treatment goals, will be able to set you up with a very workable plan. Reiki blessings, and namaste...
