Mama Bears are such good mamas too... I always think of bear when I'm needing that strong mothering energy.

I think I would have to say owl. Which is not mythical but lays a big part itn the mythology and folklore of many areas of the world. I love the mystery about owls, their ability to see in the dark and the idea that they are a bridge between worlds.

I love owls. And I was surprised to learn that they can kill 10 times the amount of prey than a cat can. Though I guess that shouldn't surprise me - they are extraordinary hunters. I had a dream once where I was talking with an owl - a beautiful white one with tiny black stripes. The next morning my son found an owl feather - white with black in it of course

Funny thing...

I was reading a free magazine that got posted through my door yesterday & in the Astrology section they divided the signs up & gave each several mythological creatures depending on birthday. I noticed mine was Aquila the Eagle (I'm 23rd January). I've not seen this done before, but didn't give it much thought, having barely heard of this name in any case.

Now the weird bit..
An hour later driving the kids to the small town we shop at along very windy hilly roads we came to temporary traffic lights & had to stop for a while. Coming towards me through the lights- a light blue foreign lorry with Aquila written large over it. Synchronicity at work I think! I may need to look up Aquila...unless you can enlighten me Deanna?

Lauren, like Corvus, Aquila is written in the stars! The Milky Way runs through part of Aquila. Aquila is "above" Sagittarius, and one of the stars of Aquila (Altair) forms the Summer Triangle. Perhaps in another life you piloted a starship, cuz it looks like a pattern of flying critters and stars may be emerging! I am not at my house with all of my astronomy books, so I am unable at this time to ramble on endlessly about Aquila. BTW, my first daughter was born 1/23/75. Perhaps this summer you are going to meet a gentleman "friend" who, like the stars, will light up your nights!

In Native American beliefs all birds are messengers of the creator (god if you will) and they can take your prayers to him for you as well, eagle is considered to be the most powerful bird of them all

Aquila was also once hunted by Hercules... of course even Hercules couldn't catch the mythical Eagle.

Oh Firefly that would be so lovely. I'll keep you posted

I did. It is the usual glossy pulp- but I think I'll pull out the astrology section. Looking again more closely the extra categories are all star systems- Firefly is right on that- though I think I've been down here on Earth for a mighty long time myself! Give me dates of birth people & I'll let you know what system they fall under.

Funny thing is the two power animals I have met so far have also both been birds. Maybe an Eagle is coming in now. Glad he couldn't be caught...we have a guinea pig called Hercules

Myself I'd love to be a Pegsus so I can fly around up there with the Eagles, Dragons, Owls, and Ravens...

I think secretly you want to horn in on my action with Legolas! My bday is 3/28, the big five-oh! I am almost afraid to ask what correlates to my birthdate.
