I have never done just root touch-ups...
Can anyone recommend a good brand?

Is it better in my situation with the damaged permed hair to do a root touch-up or to just colour my whole head?

NO....
The last thing you want to do on badly damaged hair is damaging it some more!

Guess what? I give massages and reiki. More info here!

Are you talking about touching up hair color? There are now specialty products in the stores designed for that with special applicators. I don't know how well they work.

I just use my regular tint for retouches. I have an article here: Retouch that talks aout it.

Definately, do not put the same haircolor all over your hair that you are using on your newgrowth. You will end up with hair in worse condition and probably uneven or off-tone color.

Hi Lynne,

Sorry, I didn't respond earlier, but I was having trouble logging on...

Anyways, yes I meant touching up the roots because my roots are a medium to dark brown and the rest of my hair is a blend of light to medium brown with some highlights that won't go away..so when I wear my hair down all you see is
dark roots...should I just use touch-ups at the roots to lighten it to match the rest of my hair colour...I've seen Nice n' Easy root touch-ups, but I've never tried it...

You mentioned you used your regular tint for retouches...Where would I find this?

thanks,
franny

It's rough for me not to colour my hair on a regular basis. I have dark reddish brown hair, and my natural colour is blonde. So when my roots come in, I seriously look like i have bald spots due to the contrast. But I don't look good blonde, even my Mother says I should have been born with this colour lol.

Either way, for the sake of my hair I quit pouring colour onto my entire head. Big difference in it's condition. Shinier, softer, just so much better.

I know what you mean....My natural hair colour is a medium brown with a touch of red and so when I colour it I usually buy the medium reddish brown...I like having the red in there because I feel it has presence...Now with my roots so dark I was thinking to just do a touch-up for now.. that is why I'm asking is anyone can recommend a good product and to help with what colour touch-up I should be getting...

franny,
wow, after 3 posts, you still manage to ignore me?
I'll keep my sympathy for myself next time!

I'm going to keep the swears for myself instead of posting them here.

Hi Isa,

I'm so very sorry....I apologize, but I have been having major problems logging on and even getting on the site and every time I went to respond to you it would come up The page cannot be displayed...so when I am lucky enough to get on I respond to whoever asked me a question when I can and it seems to only work for about 5 minutes...I emailed the webmaster here, but it's still not working properly for me...

There's others I haven't responded to as well, so for those who haven't heard back from me that is why....I'm sorry...

Please accept my apology Isa....I do appreciate your sympathy and comments to my posts....:)

I hope you receive this!

Is anyone else having problems logging or replying to posts?

Regards,
Franny

Don't feel like you are the only one. I'm having the same problem!

I'm hoping the problems will be fixed soon.

As for the touch-ups, I haven't tried the specialty kits for this purpose. I use the same product that I use for my original color and only apply it to the newgrowth. - But I always have someone else do it for me, because it is impossible to stay on the newgrowth while avoiding all of the previously tinted hair.

Thx franny, I understand because this forum is getting worse and worse!
Lynne, you mentioned a server update a couple of weeks ago.
You might want to tell them to search for the old servers and start them back up again. We would be better off with those ;-)
