Yesterday, we had to have our beloved labrador put to sleep as he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Now I am worried that I somehow caused this to happen. He loved ripping cardboard boxes to pieces and late last year I brought home from work, 2 huge cardboard rolls that originally held laminating film. The dog had a ball with them, gnawing on them and generally having a good time. Now I am worried that the rolls may have been held together with a toxic glue and that this is what caused the lymphoma. Does anybody know if this could be possible?

So sorry to hear your sad news.
Go to this site - http://www.doineedavet.co.uk/ - and ask the vet.

I don't believe the cardboard caused the lymphoma at all/ It is a blood disease something like leukemia and you are born with it as I guess dogs are too. It lies dormant in the body but I am not sure what brings it on. Please stop torturing yourself your dog was loved and had a good home.

Thank-you both for your responses. Yes, he did have a good life. We loved him to pieces and hope to get another puppy soon. A dog adds so much.

Don't rush into getting another dog - let your hurting heart heal first. Otherwise you will expect the new dog to be and act just like the one he/she replaced and it will be a difficult transition for both of you. I made this mistake when I lost my dobie Shorty to cancer six years ago. A week later I brought home Buster (beagle mix), and we got off to a very rocky start because I expected way too much of Buster and didn't give my heart time to heal.

Cancer and lymphoma in dogs is getting more prevalent.
It may be the breeding or maybe all the vaccinations
vets say they need. Or maybe the food with artificial
preservative and by products from rendered diseased animals.
Go to my site and explore the possibilities.
