I went to place the rusty sword into the statue in Mi'hen, and then i looked at the glyph on the wall next to the statue, and the rusty sword didnt turn into masmune, what am i doing wrong?

Each character has a specific ultimate weapon that can be acquired by using the Celestial Mirror. When the weapon is first found, it is equipped with No AP ability. To remove this ability and empower the weapon to its full potential, you need to find 2 specific event items for each character. Upon doing so, you must then return to the Macalania Woods and use the Celestial Mirror to power up the weapon at the large spherical crystal high amid the treetops. Below is the description on how to get the weapon.

Get Auron's Ultimate Weapon Masamune
To acquire Auron's ultimate weapon, Masamune, you must acquire the Rusty Sword. This can be found on the eastern cliff of the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth in the Calm Lands. Take the Rusty Sword to the statue of Lord Mi and then on Mushroom Rock road. Clasko previously prevented access to this area. Place the Rusty Sword before the statute reveal a glyph. Touch the glyph to reveal the Masamune's secret location.

Masamune Power Up items
Item #1 (Mars Crest) - Can be found South of the Oldroad at Mi'ihen Highroad.
Item #1 (Mars Sigil) - Capture 10 monsters in 10 different species in 10 different regions.

ooohhhhh, i see now, i put the rusty sword in before i went and changed the cloudy mirror to the celestial mirror, so now all i have to do is go back there and get it.

I already got the mars crest, all thats left is this and the mars sigil.

ok, say ive captured 1 Fire Flan in the calm lands. I would have to capture 9 more Fire Flans in the calm lands to meet the requirements for that region. correct?

and then i would repeat that process with a different monster in each region?

i can't really remember, but i think you have to capture one of every species in every region- hope this helps!

ok ill try that, at first i thought it was just one from each region, so i did that and it didnt work, then i tried ten from each region and that didnt work, so all thats left is to try to get 10 of one species from each region, and get 1 of each species from each region.

Mars Crest: Go to Mi'ihen Highroad and continue north until you get to Mushroom Rock Road. Take Oldroad and go south from here to get to a treasure chest that contains the crest.

Mars Sigil: Getting the Mars Sigil is a time consuming task. You need to unlock 10 Area Creations or Species Creations monsters at the Calm Lands Monster Arena. To do this, capture 10 different monsters in 10 different regions for the Area Creations or 10 monsters of each of the 10 species for Species Creations. Once you have done this, talk to the trailer until he gives you the Mars Sigil.
