CC, now we're talkin'! Okay let's start with the best available contour and highlighting products out there for the average woman. Kits containing both products are available, from a plethora of cosmetic companies. Do you have any you prefer, and would recommend? http://www.intouchwithjeannine.com

Hey babe!!!
Honestly speaking, anything works!
You can do it with powder or creams. Just make sure that for shading, your product is two shades darker than your skin tone and for highlighting, it's two shades lighter than your skin tone.
I haven't come across anything that's already packaged...that would be too easy for the company!
Just basic powder will do!
When I'm doing a face, it all depends on what I'm using. If I start with my cream foundation, then I'll use the cream foundation to contour. Powder foundation, then that to contour.
One of the most important tips to remember is this:
Just because it says that a particular product should be used here or there, doesn't mean that you have to stick with that.
For example: Lipstick This is going to be fun!!! If you're in a rush, Take your lip colour and with your pinky finger, put it into the crease of your eyes for eyeshadow, a little on your cheeks for blush and don't forget your lips!!! You can do the same for blush. Eyeliner can be used for lipliner and lipliner for eyeliner.
Know do you girls know what I'm talking about?

Okay, keep them coming!!

CC, the lipstick trick is one I adopted years ago, after reading of the European ladies opting for this total makeup look, colorwise. Once I tried it, I loved it! It's especially great in summer, when I prefer wearing even less makeup than usual. I like the fact that I can achieve an enhanced look, with merely my own tan, and a bit of color applied, to enhance that tan. I've been using strictly lipsticks for blush since about 1980. I find a wider variety of color shade choices in the lip colors, as opposed to what I find in the blush-product colors.
I had hoped you might be able to mention some fairly inexpensive kits, ones which come with two or more shades of contour color, in different skin shade ranges. I've found a few, with Sephora's Bare Escentuals Get Started Kit, containing a two shade option, for contouring, the most fairly reasonably priced at $60.00.

Lynne, try curling the lashes...hold the curler in place for at least 30 seconds. You might apply, very, very carefully, a bit of hair gel to the lashes, before you curl them, for extra hold. Then, apply a coat of your favorite mascara. When you draw out the mascara wand, wipe it off, and then dip it back into the mascara tube, and draw it straight out. Apply a coat of mascara to your lashes, and then, before it dries, apply a second coat. I use a lash comb immediately after the second coat, to separate and define the lashes. I find applying the second coat of mascara before the first one is dry, keeps my mascara from clumping. http://www.intouchwithjeannine.com

Thanks Jeannine. Those are good ideas. I'll try them.
I guess CC hasn't been around lately.

Thanks for sharing the link to the Bare Escentuals kit. I definitely want to try it. I already use the BareMinerals with the Kabuki brush and love it! I have tried the Mineral Veil and it is great as well. Based on my experience so far, I think this kit has to be a winner!

hjrhfarm I guess I'll jump in here and offer some advice...First of all, less is best, as to foundation etcetera, when trying to disguise wrinkles. The one thing you don't want, is to load one of the pesky devils with makeup, thus accentuating it. The more makeup you apply, the more prominent becomes the wrinkle. If you have a problem with foundations or powders collecting in the facial lines, and thereby causing them to yell, 'Hey! Look at me, look at me!' consider trying one of the tinted moisturizers instead. There are several on the market, made by such companies as Nivea, Neutrogena, and of course, the one made by Laura Mercier. These are light, and softly tinted, and give your complexion a lift, without weighing it down, or loading up facial lines. http://www.intouchwithjeannine.com
