Lauren at New Age suggested I pop in here and ask for someone to interpret a dream I had. You know how sometimes you have a dream and you just know that it means more than you can figure out. I had one like that last night, so I'd appreciate any input you could give me on it. Just before describing the dream I want to say that in real life, both my parents are passed on and in the dream I am an adult, not a young child. Here's the dream:
My Dad was staying at his work a lot and not going home to the house he and my Mom shared. I began to suspect that he was having an affair so I decided to go to his place of employment and see what I could find out. I went there and I saw my Dad and tried to ask him what was going on but didn't get much out of him.
I discovered that my older brother was there at Dad's place of work also, but I didn't know why. I then met up with a friend and she had another woman with her. I just knew instinctively that this other woman was my Dad's mistress. I confronted my friend about it and she reluctantly confirmed my suspicions.
I decided that I had to go and get my Mom and bring her to my Dad's workplace and tell her about the mistress. I went to their house and sat down and told her about the whole thing and then insisted that she had to go to Dad's workplace with me. I guess I thought she would try to get him to give up the other woman and come home with her.
We arrived at Dad's workplace and again I found my friend and this other woman. For some stupid reason my Mom and I sat down to eat with these two women. After eating Mom went looking for Dad and I told his mistress that she was a [censored] and to butt out of his life. She just smiled sweetly and basically ignored my request. I began to realize that this was more involved than I had first thought.
Mom reappeared and I told her that she had to insist that she be able to keep their house if Dad decided he wanted to split. I decided that I needed something from my brother and took the elevator up to his room. I discovered that he had two bedrooms, both with a pile of clothing on the bed. I got whatever it was I went for and was going to return to Mom. When I got in the elevator to go back down it bounced around but didn't go anywhere. I got off and got on a second elevator which took me back down to the main floor.
I then saw my Dad and his mistress and they were walking towards me and holding hands. I knew then that he woundn't be going back to Mom. I was furious and told him so. I then found my Mom and took her home.
Hope someone can make some sense of this. Thanks for any input.

Hi, Maggie, I'm glad to see that you made it over here. It won't be long before the ladies start putting out their ideas on your dreams.

Well, I guess the obvious question is: Are your parents divorced?
If they are, I would think that deep down you still blame your dad for the divorce. Maybe not a literal affair, but for something that took him away from your mom and you. And you seem to feel like your brother sided with your dad, while you sided with your mom. It also sounds like your mom probably tried to salvage the marriage by ignoring the situation (that's what a lot of us women do, turning a blind eye is a lot less painful than dealing with it straight on.)
If your parents weren't divorced, then I'd say your dad put you and your mom 2nd behind something else (his job? sports?) and was it something that your brother was involved in too?
On the other hand, is this something going on in your life?
Just some guesses without knowing much of your background.

Whew...big dream...no wonder you wanted some input.
I'm still pondering, but I think the elevator is significant. The fact that it didn't want to take you anywhere suggests you are stuck somewhere in your life. That you got on a second one which took you where you wanted says you can resolve this & move forwards to me. The content of the dream would point to family relationships or possibly romantic ones. Even though your parents have passed over you may still have unresolved issues with them that need working through.
Also the two bedrooms for your brother. Do you think there are two sides to his character- one maybe more hidden? You needed something from him. Was there a role he didn't fulfil for you as a child, or do you need more support from him now? Do you get on with him, trust him?
Interestingly getting on an elevator & pressing the 'top floor' is one way of accessing your higher self to gain guidance
