I did say there is no debate as to their worth. True. I stand by that. But in my above post I was speaking about the validity of their behavior and of the attempt in this country to redefine marriage and family. Homosexuals have the same value as anyone else. Their behavior does not hold the same value. As a Christian, I love the sinner but hate the sin. There was no contradiction on my part. I speak in soft terms in reference to people as people but I do not sugarcoat the truth when it comes to sin. Homosexuals are loved by God and me but their sin is not.

If you love someone you naturally hate what harms them. Even if it's their own behavior.

Well, what's wonderful about my family is that we're happy, productive and enjoy each others' company. I hear friends complaining about their nagging mothers.... I have 2 mothers, neither of whom nag (although one of them wants grandbabies pretty bad). They're supportive and wonderful.

We were raised to do volunteer work, to be kind to those needier than us, to enjoy education and make it a lifelong thing, and to love people, no matter what their color and gender are. My sister and I are both straight, and fully comfortable in that. You can "hate the sin" all you want.... I don't believe that love could ever be sinful. By the way, nowhere in the Bible does it condemn lesbianism, a point not often made.

Now that I am able to post (been trying to for almost a week with no success.. an error that wouldn't go away), I would like to chime in on a few things.

1. I appreciate that my article had spawned some debate. That was it's intentions. No I wasn't refering to the sterilization of people who "shouldn't" have children. if that were the case, my birthmother would have been steralized after me, and I wouldn't have had my wonderful siblings from her.

2. While this has caused some debates, let's remember not to flame each other. We are all adults here and can respect each others opinions and that we will probably differ, a lot!

3. Please do not knock anyones personal life or family. That's just plain rude and will not be tolerated. You wouldn't want me to refer to your family as illegitamate or nonexsistant would you? So don't say the same about someone elses. We all come from very diverse backgrounds and families. hell, I was raised by my grandparents who were my Mom and Dad. Doesn't make them any less important, nor less my family. The same thing could be said of my current family. i live with a woman who is my best friend. We have 5 children together. We are a family. And just because my children are furry and of 2 different species, doesn't make them any less my family. Neither does my late-husbands family make them any less my family because we weren't LEGALLY recognized as spouses. We made the committement to each other until death due us part. We honored that to the end. And his family still honors it. They are my family even after death parts us.

So thanks for this wonderful debate. We can keep it going, but be respectful to others opinions please.

Oh yeah.. Jesus isn't the only way to G-d. We all come of different levels of faith, different faith backgrounds, and different levels of worship. The only way is so limiting. To be in G-d's precense is a blessing, and to have a relationship with Him is even more so.

Yes the Bible does condemn lesbianism. You will find it in Romans 1:26. The Bible condemns all sex outside of marriage and it defines marriage as between men and women. If I am going to be Christian I have to agree with God's Word or I have no faith in it. I can't call myself a Christian if I call Christ or God the Father liars by disagreeing with what they teach, can I? If I were to believe that anything could be true then essentially I would believe that nothing is the truth. THe Bible teaches that all sex outside of marriage is fornication. Fornication is a general tearm that means " sexual immorality". It could mean beastiality, homosexuality, anything other than husband-wife sexual contact. Jesus even went so far to say if you lusted in your heart you are guility of sin. So we ALL are guilty of this, myself included. I don't do these things now that I serve Christ but I was one of the worst. You have no idea how terrible my background is. I just want you to come to the truth as I did. It's true what Jesus said, it will set you free. I was a slave to my sin but now I'm free.

BTW folks:
TexasDave's intent is almost always to come onto these forums and find some way to take the focus off of the original topic and start preaching at us about something totally different! (This isn't the first forum he has done this in, nor is this the only name he has used, check out HeartofDavid posts as well)

My advice: don't rise to his bait, ignore any of his comments, and we'll keep going with our discussion as it was originally intended.

I believe it was FreeSpirit that said "breeders" were people who had children, but should have been sterilized at birth.

See, I've heard that applied to people who spoil their kids, people who have kids just so they can get the welfare money, how about people who get pregnant by accident? By rape? Parents make mistakes, too.

People used to think I was an overindulgent mother when my first child would pitch extreme tantrums that would cause me to have to carry him from the store kicking and screaming. I would hear all sorts of comments like "If that were my kid, I'd just ....blah, blah, blah." But what not a single one of those people knew was that my son was autistic! I didn't take him to fancy restaurants, this just happened at stores, but I still got nasty comments. What was I supposed to do? Spend my entire life in my house and hope I could somehow get food? People on the outside looking in never know the entire story. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
