My most recent article is Budgies & Other Pets - http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art39629.asp - and I was just wondering who has birds and other pets.

I'll start <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

My birds are - a B&G Macaw, An African Grey, several Cockatiels, a Bourkes Parakeetk, 2 Lovebirds, 2 doves, and a bunch of finches (Zebra, Society & Green Singing).

My other pets are - 3 dogs, 4 cats and a bunch of fish in a few aquariums.

Anyone have any stories about their other pets interacting with their birds?

I'll add my 2! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I had keets in my classroom and a wonderful labrador retriever. When my sweet dog died (old age) I didn't have the energy to train another puppy so I decided to raise parrots after retirement!

I have a quaker, Timneh African grey, button quail, 5 green cheek conures, 2 yellow-side green cheeks, 9 cockatiels (+ four eggs), 3 lovebirds and a seal-point Birman cat. He and the quaker are buddies.

Currently I have 4 cockatiels, 4 budgies, a Kakariki, a gerbil, a tank of 3 cold water fish, 9 dogs and 1 horse but also we look after another 4 horses and sometime 3-4 dogs! I hasten to add the 6 of the 9 dogs were a rather unexpected early Christmas present which one of our dogs Flo had about ten days before Christmas!! Didn't find out till 10 days b4 they were born.

Tend to keep the dogs away from the birds but Mac loves getting bits and pieces out of the bird and gerbils food. He's just a rubbish bin!!

At the moment, I have four lovebirds (Cobalt, Blue Pied, Dutch Blue Edged Dilute, and a Creamino), three budgies (one of which is an English), two dogs (Border Collie/Husky cross, and Alaskan Malamute/Husky cross), a betta fish, two feeder goldfish, and a ton of walking sticks. I plan on adding a few more lovies to my flock and start up a little breeding.

Under no circumstances would I EVER let another animal interact with my birds. Although I do let the budgies and lovies ocassionally play together, it is under VERY close watch. I would never, ever trust a dog or cat (for example) around my birds, even supervised, no matter what the disposition of the dog/cat. Far, far too risky.
