Hi,

I am a bit lost in filters choice and would really appreciate some help. I have a 160 Ltr (~45gal) aquarium and at the moment it's got a penguin 350 bio-filter which seems to do it's job... but - the noise is too much and lately the bio wheels do not turn normally. Since it's a problem to buy a good filter locally (Cyprus) I am buying all my equipments from Petsmart. Can anyone suggest which filter can do good job (chemical, mechanical, biological filtration of 45 gal) without too much noise.

DH and I are setting up our 40g tank again and just got an AquaClear filter for the tank. It's very quiet. My iml even asked if it was on because she didn't hear anything.

It's a 3 layer system first floss, then carbon, then ceramic bits. So it's mechanical, chemical and biological.
You change out 1 layer once a month so you don't change it all at once and disturb the bacteria very much.

You can even adjust the flow rate from high to low. Put it on high when you're cleaning and low the rest of the time.

Hi my Name is D...And I have a beta fish named Turtle. well his name is "Honu" which is hawaiian for turtle lol.. you may ask why I would name him that.. it was because when I went to the pet shop I really wanted a turtle.. turtles esp sea turtles are my favorite.. but When i saw Honu I knew he was one of a kind and had to have him... and when I brought him home everyone asked me where my turtle was and I said he is right here and held him up.. he is for the most part an aqua green with baby blue and pink and white and purple.. a beautiful array of color.. I've had him a lil over a year now.. and here is where my concern kicks in.. I have read up on just about everything i can find and I cant find an answer for this question.. or symptom.. a couple of days ago the frontal part of his body started to..well expand like a swelling... I dont understand it.. he seems fine and act it too.. but the expansion of his head really worries me.. can anyone tell me what it is...I would really appriciate the help
