Now they say not to put triple antibacterial ointment on piercings, because it keeps air from getting in which will interfere with healing.

But when I was having trouble with a nose piercing bump and the area was tender and painful, I used it and the irritation was gone the next day. So that's what I would do. I hope you feel better soon!

I am having a similar problem with my nose piercing. I got it pierced a little less than two weeks ago. It has been red ever since, but painless. About two days ago I came down with the flu, so I've constantly been blowing my nose (I'm not sure if that matters) and sneezing. When I woke up this morning, there is a big red 'bubble' beside the stud (on the outside) and when I cleaned it with a q-tip, it bled a little. I'm worried, because it looks really bad.. and it's kinda of embarrassing! I don't wanna go around looking infected, lol. Adice?

okay so i pierced my nose about a week ago today, and i've been wearing some fake nose rings, like ones from claire's and icing's. tonight i bought some real ones, and i've been cleaning my nose with peroxide about everyday, but theres a big bum on the inside of my nose, the outside is normal, but the inside is a big bump, and i cant even get the ring all the way through it anymore. what is it, and what can i do to get it to go away?

Ok, here it goes....when I saw my doctor, he recommended to remove the stud. so I did. I waited and it eventually healed. well approximately 9 days ago, I had my nose pierced again. Not in the same place though, it was a little bit under my other first pierce. Anyways, today I woke up with it a bit swollen and just like what "LOOKitsjenn" said. there's a little red bubbble beside my stud and it when I removed the stud to clean it, some clear stuff started to come out. Now my stud does not go all the way thru. Is this normal healing or did it get infected?

Hydrogen peroxide can burn the nose tissues, so everyone who's using that and having trouble, you might want to stop. If it's red and infected, putting antibiotic ointment on it does help, but don't use it for everyday healing, only when there is an infection.

I have had my nose pierced and although I haven't had any trouble, I will share how I took care of the area.

I used "Bactine" twice a day and in the shower I squeezed a dab of "Anti Bacterial Dial Body Wash" on my piercing and let the water run down get rid of any germs or bacteria.

Hope this helps and good luck! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Okay, so, I have the same problem. I have a bump on the outside as well as the inside of my nose. I went to a piercer and they told me it was a keloid and to put tea tree oil on it twice a day and it would go away. I have been doing that and it has not gone away. Should I try the aspirin/water thing? Any more ideas???

If you have questions about Nose Piercings, there are several articles written just on this topic.

* Nose Piercing - this article is an introduction to nose piercing. Types of nose piercings, placement, methods for piercing and jewelry choices are discussed.
* Nose Piercing Aftercare and Healing - this is a follow-up article, focusing on healing and aftercare.
* Nose Piercing FAQ - these are some of the most frequently asked questions about nose piercings.
* Ive also written an eBook on Nose Piercing which covers all three of the above topics and more.
