No one wants to have someone enter their special event, especially not a wedding and think "average", "so so", or "I saw this at..."

Check out my new article on unique and unusual centerpieces, featuring some cool new products available at http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art39392.asp .

Let me know if you have any creative ideas to share as well!

Our wedding was a less formal event. Since it was my 2nd marriage, but David's 1st - we were trying to go for "middle ground", and also as parents of 2 from a previous marriage, couldn't go too crazy on money!

Wish I had a picture to show, but we had black wrought iron bird-cage lanterns that we cemented into terra cotta pots. We then put florists (that green stuff that holds water! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />) and moss on top, and ivy from David's parent's yard (they have tons of it) Oh the terra cotta pots were painted black.

So the effect was still very elegant, but not expensive at all, black lanterns and pots with the green ivy trailing, and the soft glow of the candles in the lanterns (vanilla scented of course, so as not to compete with the cake!)

People often overlook that about candles. You should always get unscented or vanilla scented candles, because you have scents from your flowers, your catering, and your cakes; if you add in a scent from your candles it is too overwhelming!

Hi.
I used vases with fish and plants in them at my 25th wedding anniversary.
I needed 8 so I shopped the thrift stores and found all the vases I needed and only paid $1 for most of them, the rocks I have seen at thrift stores and also the $1 stores, the plants were 2 1/4 inch pots, the Beta's cost me the most. I tied ribbon around the neck of the vases. They looked so neat, I gave them away at the end of the party to the people that helped me and anyone who wanted one. I did 8 of these for under $5 each. They were a big hit.
Good luck and best wishes.

We're going to find some fake nectarines to decorate the tables and around the room for our wedding.

Has anyone bought fake fruit before? Is there a particular shop that you'd recommend? Can anyone recommend an online artificial fruit shop that will ship to New Zealand?

Going along with the Beta idea, a friend of mine used fishbowls with goldfish in them and different colored gravel. They stuck a sticker underneath one chair at each table. Whoever had the sticker got to take the fish home. Decided, I like your idea of nectarines! That sounds really cute.
