BellaOnline Forums Beauty and Self Hair Need advice on a new do!

Well, here I am in all my hideous glory! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I let my hair grow out over Christmas(normally it's cut at an ear length bob)and I am going nutso now.

I really don't want to go back to the same old style, but I'm a little scared to take the step into a shorter more complicated hair style because of past bad experiences. I've also got really baby fine hair that doesn't do well in the body/volume dept. I really like the lady who cuts my hair now, and I don't think she'd butcher my hair at all, but like I said I just don't know if this would work or not.

I have some important job interveiws and what not coming up and I'd really like to look my best- and professional!
Should I step into something new, stick with the short bob, or does anyone else have any suggestions? All I know is the long hair has got to go! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I think you should get gradual layers throughout, but keep your length...I think since you have a round face it would look better to have it long (at least chin level) rather than short...Maybe get a few face framing highlights added that would bring out your eye colour...that would be nice!

I think the style you like is nice too, but I think it would age you and you look young...

Maybe you can try a couple of hair consultations and see what styles they come up with that you like and take it from there...

I hope whatever style you choose, you will be happy with!

I don't wanna be a pest, but what do you mean by layers throughout? Would that be like a bob? I am so hair illiterate!

The style you like does very well with fine hair. You do have to use some product - styling foam or gel - to get the texture and the flips. It isn't really hard to do and your hair looks like it has a little natural wave.

You're adorable! True, at 28 being called adorable may not be your ultimate goal, LOL, but you are sitting there smirking at the camera as opposed to being the sultry goddess.

I like the look of the cut you chose. Are you going to do bangs or anything across the front?

My face is almost the same in structure. I finally got my hair back to just above the middle of my back in length. For you I would suggest keeping it below the shoulders. My hair stylist knew I had a natural part in the center so to add volume cause I too have very baby soft fine hair, parted the hair slightly off from center to one side and cut no shorter than my chin around my face. That was to make my face look thinner, then without cutting off too much length down the front of the rest cut it kinda in a feathering kind of way sort of like what jeniffer aniston does but I did have the shorter chin length piece that still is manageable to put up or down cause I can tuck it behind my ears a bit. Also if you are kinda pale like me I suggest possibly some color I do my hair a very dirty blonde not white blonde but more a creamy brownish color. It has made my face look more lively and my skin a bit darker. By making your hair lighter it will make your face look more suttle.

Your hair sounds and looks similar to mine. The style in your link is one I have had in the past. I LOVED it! I am now growing it out a bit and going for Meg Ryan's (her cuts ALWAYS work well on me) Kate, in Kate & Leopold.

something I never considered and now use daily is a straightener. Yes, fine straight hair, and I use a straightener. I got a very narrow one, ceramic. I use hair gel, blow dry upside down, no styling, just for volume. Straighten here and there, mostly to smooth the top layers and straighten out the "flippies". Works awesome.

Highlights rock! I now color mine a tad darker than it really is and have very subtle highlights around my face.

Christina, what I meant by layers throughout is what skinnydipr mentioned....something like Meg Ryan's style or even Ashley Judd's style where she has lots of layers...If you keep it one length it could look heavy and layers would add volume to your hair...I can't seem to locate a picture of either of them off-hand, but if I do I will send them to you...

and most of the layers are at the ends of the hair, long layers, and some jagged edges... I don't get mine cut "straight".
