Hi everyone, I'm new here. I am a Hobby Breeder, I have a pair of Cordon Blues,A yellow frost canry, and her son who is an intense ( I recently lost his father) a White canary who I hope to pair up with my frosted yellow,a ntense bronze female and a frost bronze male.A pair of Blue headed Parrot finches, A male Parrotlet, several society finches, 2 red headed male gouldians, and 3 black headed female gouldians. 2 of the black headed females as well as one society I have hand raised. The gouldians were from my sisters pair, but they were too young to know how to care for them. This is why I hand raised them as well as 'Sprout' the society. Sprout and 'Hope' will fly out of the flight cage I built and perch on my shoulder as I'm changing their seed and water, they are very tame. Willy who I thought was a male isn't so social with me. I bought the 2 red headed males to breed with them when they are older. The hand fed gouldiand are only 6 months, and I will wait until they are a year or more. My question, and I'm sorry for taking so long,is,'Can a Gouldian and a Society Mate?
(I have the male in with the society's as the goulds are too young.) I noticed this the other day. I didn't think it was possible, I know a gouldian and a Blue headed parrot finch will. Also my sister is a hobby breeder, she noticed her male zebra and her female society, were mating, and he is busy making a nest?? If anyone knows if this is possible, I appreciate any feed back.
Thank You.
Take Care.

Tough question - because I have never considered doing any cross breeding. I'm pretty sure the Society & Zebra can mate, but not sure if the babies will be mules or not. I have no idea about the Gouldian & Society though.

I wonder if anyone else on here has had any personal experience with this kind of breeding.

I have used societies only to foster gouldian eggs/chicks if the need arose. I, personally, don't think the two will mate but stranger things have happened. If it was possible why waste the colorful gouldian DNA on a society? Just my two cents...... <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
