Hello, Fellow Spinners,

I have the rare opportunity to, perhaps, get the wheel of my dreams (a Majacraft Suzie or Rose). It's a lot of money, so I want to be as sure as possible that I'll be making the right choice. Plus, I hear that the prices are going up after the first of the year and I want to order this week, if I'm going to order.

I read a critique of the Suzie vs. a Schacht and the user said that she chose the Schacht because she didn't like the delta thingie instead of an orifice. She said you have to draft in a certain, specific position or there was lots of wobble.

So, what do you think of the wire delta thingamy?

Thanks for your help!

Sarah

Hi Sarah!

I own a Suzie and I love it. One of the reasons I bought it in the first place was because it didn't have a traditional oriface. I find not having to thread an oriface or try to keep a threader handy when I need one to be very liberating!

If you spin off at a sharp angle from the wire front piece, it will wobble. But I don't have any problems with that and I think it's more of an issue with the saxony style wheels. With those you are set skiddy-wampus to the flyer. With both the Suzie and the Rose you are set in a straight line. Also, the flyer unit will adjust to both left or right if you prefer to set yourself off at an angle.

I bought my Suzie in 1997 and have never regretted it.

Hi,
I just love my Suzie Pro, You can replace the delta with an ordinary oriface but I just see no reason why.

I too love my Susie Pro. I purchased her from a dealer in Sedona, Arizona and I don't have enough space to express how happy I am with the wheel. I have 2 other wheels, the Elizabeth II by Ashford and the Jensen Saxony. I enjoy taking Susie everywhere I go. I too like the traditional flyer and I only use the delta for speciality yarns. I wrote about the Susie on my blog in Oct. 06

I own a Suzie also i I also find not having an oriface liberating. I think my Suzie is like a Rolls Royce after all the other wheels Ive tried. We suit each other.
