I cannot find a queen size bedskirt in the collection that I need. Therefore my only option seems to be to buy the king and work with it. Exactly how would I alter it to fit the queen? I don't have a sewing machine so I would do this by hand.

My suggestion would be to cut it in half (from top of mattress line all the way to the bottom - at floor). Then overlap the skirt in the middle to be the width you want, cut off what you can't use, and stitch away. WALLA....queen bedskirt.

Problem is she doesn't have a sewing machine. Go to the fabric store and find some iron on tape for "seamless sewing". I haven't looked for this for awhile and there may be other brand names, but Stitch Witchery used to come in a roll about 1/2 inch wide. ( If you can't find it, go to the interfacing section and find the equivalent there and cut it in strips yourself.) This is sticky on both sides and will weld two pieces of fabric together without sewing. Just a tip, if you don't press too hard at first--just a very light touch, you can "try it on" the bed to check it. Then, if it fits OK, go back and really press it in place. If it doesn't fit, a touch of a steam iron will soften it enough to pull it apart and reposition to the correct location. Good luck!
