Aw, how dare we have money and time! Money and time we possessed because we chose not to have children. Heaven forbid we should have money and time. Jealous much, m'dear?
Why, janbel, is it your right to annoy other people when in public, either with your children or yourself? The rest of the world says: shut up and behave like a human being. If you want to be loud and annoying, and don't like having to act in a mature manner, "don't go or leave" as you so eloquently put it. People shouldn't have to leave a public place because you and/or your children are behaving like Neanderthals.
I find it interesting that this is your first post on this entire forum...and that as someone with 6 kids, you feel the need to troll the "married no kids" board. Yes, sweetie, this is a place where people who have no kids talk about that. Once again, I quote your own advice: if you don't like it, don't click the link that brings you here, and you're welcome to leave whenever the spirit moves you.

Very annoyed by Janbel's post. She needs to go back to the mommy board.
If I had it my way, I would live in a child-free neighborhood (quiet) with childfree grocery stores and malls (just imagine!) and "No Children" sections in every restaurant. I would rather sit next to a smoker at dinner than a rowdy bunch of kids that don't know how to behave, and parents that ignore them.

If I had it my way, I would live in a child-free neighborhood (quiet) with childfree grocery stores and malls (just imagine!) and "No Children" sections in every restaurant. Oh, how wonderful would that be!!! There are plenty of apartments that don't allow pets, what about some that don't allow kids? I would move in right away!! We had a neighbor with a 3 year old little boy who would be outside by himself all the time because his parents would just leave the door open. He got into the habit of PEEING in the grass outside our patio. So at any given moment you could be quietly sitting on the couch reading and look up to see him standing there, pants around ankles, staring in at me and peeing. His other habit was to hide in the bushes and jump out when we'd open our door to walk our dogs to point toy guns at them and scream "KILL THAT DOG!!" at the top of his lungs. What do you want to bet that child is gonna end up in juvie??? The parents, and believe me I use the term loosely, thought all of it was funny and our apartment management refused to do anything because he was just a wittle boy! Thank God those neighbors finally moved. <img src="/images/graemlins/wall.gif" alt="" />

I don't see why places can't refuse to allow kids...I mean, come on. You can *train* a dog or cat not to pee on the carpet and scratch up the walls and bark all the time. There is nothing on heaven or earth you can do to keep a 3-year-old from spilling their red Kool-Aid or waking up shrieking from a nightmare in the middle of the night. Kids probably make as much as, or more of, a mess as pets do.

I've always thought the same thing, Katja. Kids are terribly messy and never fail to trash the place they are living...but people don't have to pay extra fees to have kids in their apts, but pets, oh yeah---you have to pay through the nose!
My home is in a lot better shape than anyone I know who has kids.

I read somewhere that it is actually illegal to "discriminate" against people with kids, meaning you can't have an adult only living area - unless it's one for adults 55 and older. I live in an apartment complex and my building used to be blissfully kid-free, but then THEY moved in...and now doors are constantly slamming and bikes and skateboards are left in the common area, and their evil little friends come over....and they keep knocking on my door trying to sell me magazines and chocolate bars.

I KNOW!!!! My husband and I recently built a house...it was intended to be our "dream home" complete with pool, yard etc. Our lot happens to border a common area that is just supposed to be a decorative landscape and there are little rug rats playing in it, making noise, making a mess EVERY day!!! They also play in the street- very safe- with no adult supervision. The sales stuff really sucks too...I check the peephole first and I frequently don't answer the door...I hate feeling obligated to purchase something just because they are kids and I happen to live next door...also those candy bars will make me fat!!! ARGGGGG!!!!

My husband is a full time student and he has a big test coming up - he spent all evening at the lab studying. EXCEPT he didn't get a lot of studying done because two of the women in his class brought their kids to the lab and they spent the whole time running around like baboons on crack (the kids, not the moms....I think). So while I applaud these women for trying to further their educations and improve their circumstances, I really don't think it's fair that they do it at my husband's expense. I mean, if they can't afford a babysitter they could at least sedate the kids....or hog-tie them or something. OR make arrangements to babysit each other's kids while each mom goes to the lab. Although I'm partial to the hogtying.

Are you a comedian??? Every post I read from you I laugh my head off!!! That stinks about the lab...I have a similar situation at my work...the family members of the owners (who also work here) frequently bring in their children...and I KNOW they can afford child care...so I get to try and block them out while I work (or post on my favorite message board) really irritating!! I'm beginning to think the more I don't want kids the more they follow me around...maybe we could start a new company to manufacture antikid repellent :-)

There's a couple that sings with my church's choir who always bring their kid (young toddler age). Often she's not too bad as far as noisiness, but when one or the other of them is always trying to keep track of the kid rather than doing what they're there to do--SING--or, like the time the kid started SCREAMING while we were trying to sing and it was throwing us all off because we couldn't hear much other than SCREAMING CHILD...
And of course no one's going to say anything because it's church (and because most of the people there are the older type who are all smily about kids), but FFS. If they can't/won't get a babysitter (and I have a feeling it's more the case of "won't"), then maybe they need to take turns--one goes to choir, one stays home and watches the kid.
