I'm seriously considering having both of my tragus...es?(...tragi?) pierced. I've heard a few horror stories where people got 'em pierced straight and can't wear CBRs (captive bead rings). Does one *have* to have their tragi pierced curved to wear CBRs or could they wait until the piercing heals and wear a CBR then, maybe of a smaller gauge?

I have both my traguses pierced. Got 'em done back in the mid 90s. They were both pierced with a straight needle and then a small gold fixed bead ring was worn for the initial healing. I've always worn some sort of ring in them.

Just for thought: nipples and navels and noses are all pierced "straight" and yet folks wear rings in those piercings all the time.

Here's the thing people don't think about when getting a tragus piercing: headphones and ear buds. A pierced tragus can interfere with being able to wear either comfortably. For ear buds, the issue is how much the jewelry crowds the ear canal. I can't stand to wear that style hardly at all. For headphones, the issue will be how large the jewelry is and if the headphones press down on the jewelry or piercing in some way. I've had my traguses get "angry" and a bit irritated from classic-style headphones that fit tightly.

Thanks so much!! I was starting to get a bit worried. XD

(And I overspend on my music equipment, so my headphones are the epitome of wearable, even on infected helix piercings.)

Hi:
I have body art, from my military and since. I have been turned down by women who cannot deal with it. But I am the person not my body art.

solitaryserenity,

I had a friend recently show me some ear buds that are silicone and really squish, so my comments about having trouble with the style of headphone may soon be over.

One thing to note is that tragus piercings that get stressed by too much pressure on the jewelry (the folding it against the head) can often form keloids. I did not get both of mine pierced at the same time so that I could avoid sleeping on the piercings (i "side sleep" a lot).

oh...and don't mind the guy who seems to have clicked on the wrong thread when responding. I bet he meant to click on the Coast Guard/military thread.....

I have a vertical hood piercing. Yeah sound weird but hey it was an awesome experience and as much as I thought it would really hurt it was done so fast that I squeeked and it was done it was kinda funny. I kept it clean w soap and water every day and it has been great fun since
