I am curious to know if anyone has suggestions on dealing with hair loss without having to use Rogaine. I have been considering using Nioxin which I've heard good things about, but I would also like to see what vitamins are best or what types of daily hair regimens I could be doing to hopefully either stop more hair loss or regain some of what I've lost. I beleive I'm experiencing the hair loss due to heridity however stress and hormones could also be a part of it too. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Stress and heridity are both related to hormones too. Stress causes higher levels of testosterone (women too) which changes to DHT (dihydrotestosterone) which is toxic to hair folicles. Heredity is inheriting the testosterone levels that cause hairloss.

These articles deal with hair loss and nutrition.

Thanks Lynne for the website links and the feedback about Nioxin. I've been doing some research on the product and think it's the right avenue for me to go with at this time, rather than dive into using Rogaine. The thing is I'm only 32 and I can't tell whether the hair less, actually it's more patterned baldness really, is do to stress, heridity, or hormones. I've talked with hairdressers and physicians, all say it's one of those three most likely. If it's stress though, I would think that it wouldn't last for this long. I noticed my thin spots about 2 years ago. I'm not under as much stress anymore. The hormone thing, well I went off birthcontrol two years ago, did some research about hair loss and decided to go back on the pill thinking that it was because I went off the pill that was the cause of the hairloss. Still no change 2 years later and I'm still on the same pill. So last resort was heriditary, the thing is both my parents have a full set of hair with no loss, but my aunt (dad's sister), has thin hair and she noticed her hair thinning early on as well. So at this point I'm assuming it's heriditary. If it is, I really don't want to rely on Rogaine for the rest of my life, but I want to believe that there are other natural ways to either stimulate some growth or prevent more hair loss. I'll check out the websites you posted, however any feedback or suggestions are much appreciated.

Wanted to add also, that I've been taking multivitamins and Bcomplex everyday hoping it would stimulate some growth. Also I do a lose braid on my hair at night when I go to bed. I try to do a scalp rub with my fingertips on a daily basis. My diet and exercise aren't as ideal as they could be, however they aren't poor, so I doubt that's contributing. I'm thinking about starting out with Nioxin level 2 because my hair loss hasn't just started, it's thin or patchy in spots.

I would use Follicle Booster as well as System 2. It is extra nourishment for the hair. You use it in the thin, patchy spots before the Treatment.

Lynne,

I know in preparation for my Gastric Bypass; they have been very stern with us about getting enough protein. One of the major things they pointed out (especially for us vain women) <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />, was that our hair would start falling out if we didn't get enough protein (besides the muscle loss and other things!)

So that could be a reason, also. Vegetarians especially need to be sure that they are getting enough protein.

Thanks Michelle

Poor diet or radical changes in diet definately have and effect on hair density.

hi
some time ago i had experienced the same problem: my hair was falling very quickly. in every room, on my cloths, everywhere i was finding my hair only on my head no. so i start researching on the net for solutions and i decided to try some new products on the market and i am very happy with my decision. my hair is back where it belongs and this means that is on my head. i used on every wash a special shampoo with multi-minerals and after that a great regenerating hair mask, bothe products have the main ingredient clay.
all the informations needed on this products you will find on this site:

Thanks for the post Clementina. Clay isn't something that I'd ever think about using for hair growth. I'm glad it worked for you.
