I found a cat wandering around one day, posted 'Found' signs and everything, but no one's claimed her, so I've kept her. It's been a few months and tonight she started crawling around real close to the floor, mewing and sticking her butt in the air. I thought maybe she was sick but then I realized I don't know if she's fixed or not. Does this sound like a cat in heat?

probably...do you let the cat run outside? Because if you are then it's really weird that she hasn't been gone for a couple of days. Because the feline females always run off when there horny and want some sugar. Not the males...and if not, then your cat is pretty weird <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

...or maybe the puss already had her share, it also could be tha this "sticking up her butt in the air thing" is just her way of saying...I had a jummie treatment! =) [color:"green"] [/color]

No, she's not an outdoor cat at all. Sometimes I let her paw around outdoors, but she always hurries back inside. I didn't know what to do with her, so I put her in the bathroom overnight...And she seems alright now. She's not making noises anymore or doing the butt-in-the-air thing.
