Today there were elections in many of the States in America. Et al in the forum who have American citizenship: Did you get out and exercise your right? If you didn't, don't worry, you just gave your right to someone else. Every election does have a 100 percent turnout regardless. For all the people who decided to stay home, a very grateful "thank-you". You let me make up your mind for you, You gave me the power to select some of your new leaders and opt for or against new resolutions.

What kind of elections were they? To local authorities?

Good morning zooba. Yes these were mostly local elections and a few of the States had elections for Governor of the State. When I voted it was for a new Governor in Virginia as well as some other top offices in the State. There was also voting for local (city) Offices as well as a few changes in the law. Virginia is one of the States where the Governor may be of one Party and other officials from a different party; this makes for some interesting results. In most States, a Democrat would be considered very Liberal and Left Wing. In Virginia, a Democrat could be considered very Right Wing and Conservative and we shall see what happens in the future.

Morning Bob, I hesitated to reply to your post, but, oh well here goes:
Now I am a very strong American, I will do my part in conducting and completion of what ever task is set forth to me to do by the voice of my country. I will not die for my beliefs or in the service of my country, because I will expect and insure to the best of my abilites for my enemies to die for theirs.
I do not vote.
The reason: To intrusive on registration
The name list and personal information becomes public domain and as such, is traded to other goverment departments as a resource.
As a person, I do not need that type of agrivation for personal and professional risk.
Not that this should be the case for the remainder of Americans as this is a right that needs to be exercised. It is the strength of any Democratic Republic to excercise the will of the people and must be maintained.
Now, if this makes me a bad American, will, I guess I am a bad American.
With the greatist respect
Charles

bescheid. I can accept your logic of not wanting too much personal information and it seems as this is a backdoor attempt to put restrictions on voters similar to those that were meant to keep minorities from voting in the South. It is now time for the Liberals to voice their opposition much like they voiced it about the policies of the South. I thought the Liberals were against anything that went against anything that was an invasion of privacy. I guess this is only a hot issue when the Liberals are affected by it. BTW. Virginia elected a Democrat as governor and a Republican as Lietenant-Governor. The Attorney General race is still too close to call. In other parts of America, this Governor Elect would be considered a raving, right-wing extreamist. Party affilation here in the Old Dominion is used more for funding and support than for Party Dogma.
