Has anyone seen the bear and Christmas Tree at wall mart? This would look great in my living room. Does anyone have any ideas on crocheting this type of bear for decorating a tree?

I can't bring to mind what this would look like. Is there a picture on the walmart site that would give me a better idea what you are looking for? How big is it?

If we could see it then we would probably be able to think of patterns that would adapt to it.

Guess if I had discribed it it may have helped. Sorry, I'm trying to quit smoking and things don't seem to go just right sometimes. Haven't had one since the 6th. The bear and tree aren't on the wall mart site. It's about 5 ft. tall with a bear attached to it standing. Black bear, Rugged looking ,dressed in a plaid christmas colored scarf and hat. Would like to make small bears to look like this. Like the sort of black bear you would see in the mountains. Any ideas for crocheting one . Where can I find a pattern for this type of bear?

I have a crochet book of Teddy Bears and I bought it from Dover Publishing Company. Here is the url:
www.doverpublications.com
There are several types of bears included for patterns. Different sizes and shapes.
I know Mother Hen will be by directly and she no doubt will be able to help (she is our human search engine here). If there is a black bear free pattern on the net, she will know.

Congrats on the cigarette campaign for healthier lungs.

First of all - congratulations on the quit smoking. I quit over 12 years ago. The first few days are the toughest. After that, easier and easier.

On the Bear topic - if anyone is into Teddy Bear collecting check out http://www.justbearsandstuff.com

A great gift shop located in Myrtle Creek, Oregon.

Nanadeb,
This is the only Teddy Bear for stuffing I have in my files.
I got him back in Apri 2003.
Lionbrand still offers him >

If you need something more wild and ruff looking ,
I'll have to search into the wild pages on the web for one! I know they are out there.

I'm off to the HUNT !!

You could check this site for more ideas.

You could use some of the Fur type yarn for a more real effect.
