Is anyone here familar with these films: "Promised Land," "Revenge," and "Korczak?" They supposedly have English subtitles and are directed by Andzrej Wajda.

I have checked the Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB), Google, and the U.S. Amazon.com weith no luck. Wajda comes up on the IMDB with a very recent movie.

I saw Revange some weeks ago and enjoyed it even with some poor acting by some. There is Roman Polanski in it playing Mr. Papkin (just Great acting from his part). The problem with Revange may be though with its translation. It is based on 19 century play with rhymes so I can hardly imagine translation to be any good.
IMDB has all Wajda movies you mention listed. Click on "Wajda" next to "his recent film".

Zemesta (Revenge) is a hoot - Yes, in some places the acting is a bit rough but Polanski is a gem to watch. Pop some popcorn and just watch it for what it is - a light comedy. Speaking of bad acting has anyone watched the Janosik series? It is a gem! It is so bad it is good - and if you keep in mind that although the bad guys in the series are the Austrians - I think there were some not so subtle digs at the socialists all over the series.

I have also seen Promised Land - much darker in tone and subject matter. I actually used to film in a class where we were discussing labor issues and the rise of capitalism. It worked quite well and the class enjoyed seeing something that wasn't rooted in the "American experience."

More information about this series? Winter is coming to New England and watching films (VHS or DVD) is a good thing to do <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
