Think yourselves lucky you are not in the UK at the moment. 5 November was Guy Fawkes night and from about 1700h to 0200h there was continuous, very loud bangs and all sorts of other noises from millions of fireworks. I am not a spoilsport, but this had been going on for the full week preceding 5 November, and as I sit typing this (1920h GMT) the big bangs (no Bob, not a new Universe!) are still going on. Yahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! No doubt for another few days yet. When I was a boy, November 5 was THE firework night - that was it.
