GO MERWYN GO MERWYN <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> How exciting is that !!!!! As for the other lady, yes she can go bug off, I run into that also and I always respond with "this is not a garage or yard sale" and then I will give them directions to the second hand stores !!!!

My biggest pet peeve of the Craft Fair I participated in this fall . . .

Someone touching my (expensive fiber) scarf and saying 'Oh, I know how to knit/crochet' (dismissing MY time, ability and creativeness).

The first come-back I came up with was 'well, I knit/crochet so you don't have to' . . . since I actually FINISH projects, and everyone that said they never actually finish anything they start.

The second thing - while not a come-back since it's too rude to say to strangers - but something I really started thinking about was 'well, when you go to a restaurant, do you tell the chef his food is overpriced, since YOU already KNOW how to COOK' ?????

People. I swear! It's just made me much more aware of being a consumer myself now.

I've done a few Art and Craft Festivals, and 4 guild shows these past 2 years. And at the guild shows in PA, I sold nothing only caught walking pneumonia, which lasted all 4 shows in 2004.
This year I went to VT, sold several items, but I've been getting a least 1 order every few days, which is keeping me really busy. This past week I did a emergency christening gown, for a 4 month old that sold for $200.00. So you just have to enlighten the public about your work, and find a good venue, whether, stores(consignment), link on line to a yarn shop, or craft shows. But be wary about EBAY, to many selling for peanuts, I can't even produce my clothing for the price they sell on ebay. Stick to it look around you will find a way. Good luck

I love to crochet so much that I had several afghans I had finished that had no homes, so I brought them into work with me today. I thought maybe with Christmas coming that someone might be interested in buying them. I definitely did not even try to recoup my time, but merely my yarn costs. I started out this morning with four afghans - and 30 minutes later only had two that were not spoken for, and "special orders" for three more.

Thank you everyone for the responses and ideas. I will keep trying and hope that I will find my "market". Loved all of your thoughts and come backs to all those who are unappreciative of our hard work.

Aloha all...
