Jaga. Of course I had to have a different opinion. In the tradition I remember: All Souls Day (Haloween) was set aside as a day of prayer for the Souls of those who had passed away. All Saints Day was a day to commerate all those who are in the presence of God. Halloween night was a night reserved for children Costumes were homemade and anyone who wore a "store-bought" costume was roundly scoffed at. There were very few masks and you decorated your face with items that could be found around the home. It was a very poor night if a child only collected one grocery bag full of goodies. We not only received candy, but, also got cookies and fruit as well. We never worried about poisened apples because perverts were not running loose as they are today. Yes, children enjoyed themselves that night and when you were 11 years old, you considered yourself too old to go trick or treating.

Boy Im having a hard time in picking the url that will allow everyone to view my photos. I chose another one and hope it works. I replaced the above one. When I test it in preview they all work for me so I am assuming everyone can see them too. Now to find out how to be able to find the correct url to allow just an imgage on forum and I'll be all set. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Bob,

it almost looks that your opinion could be classified as:
+++
I love both - Halloween is nice for kids, All Saints' Day gives some extra flavor to it +++

Is there anything remaining after All Saints Day in the USA? Do protestants also remember this day or only catholics? I will see tomorrow since Ela has a religion class just in a Haloween day.

I voted for option #1, but with a slight modification: I liked Halloween (when I was an older child), however, I don't think Halloween is fun for all kids. It was kind of a scary holiday for me til I was at least 7-8 years old. Some people really turn it into a gruesome holiday.
