I'd always thought the front of Chelle's sweater to be a little too "frilly" looking, but then, that's just because I dont wear that style of stuff.

I've only made two sweaters myself, and they were vests (sleeves seem to be beyond my comprehension at the moment) I've never done clothing in the round like that.

I dont see why you cant call it an original...If you make the sweater it will be your own work, from out of your own mind...that makes me think it was original...just because you're inspired by a doily and a technique of sweater making doesnt mean it's not going to be an original.

I thought this sweater was sooo cute when I saw it here. I went to wal-mart as I was hoping to be able to see what the back of the sweater looks like, but unfortunately, they do not have it at our walmart yet. oh well...

Melissa:
I just read your post, I too would love to crochet a sweater/vest in pineapples. In fact it's one of my favorites because once you get the hang of it, it works up fairly quick. The one I like is done in squares of 4 pineapples each, they're joined on last round of each square, very pretty too.
I'll do asearch for that pattern & email you soon.
Lots of crocheting,
gordita
